The exhibition Who is like God?: the image of Archistrategos Michael in national history and culture opens in Kyiv

Starting from August 28, the National Museum of the History of Ukraine launches the exhibition “Who is like God?: the image of Archistrategos Michael in national history and culture.” This was reported by the Kyiv Tourism and Promotion Department (Kyiv City State Administration).

Archangel Michael has been known as a symbol since the times of the Old Rus’ state, and since the 17th century he was depicted on the coat of arms of Kyiv. Today the Archistrategos is the heavenly patron of the capital, represented in modern city heraldry and in the insignia of the Mayor.

The museum’s exhibition presents unique exhibits of the past and the present: the majestic bas-relief of the Archistrategos from the Kyiv Town Hall of the 18th century, ancient medallions, one of the best icons of the museum collection, church artifacts from St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery and St. Michael’s Vydubychi Monastery, breastplates, cockades, stamps, documents, sleeve insignia, badges and awards.

Special attention is given to the materials of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, the Revolution of Dignity, and the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, which confirm the immutability of the image of Archistrategos Michael as a symbol and heavenly protector of warriors.

Entrance – at the price of a museum admission ticket.
Working hours: from 10:00 to 18:00 (the museum’s ticket office is open until 17:00).
