A list of the best morning locations according to The Kyiv Lover blog! Panoramic hills, Kyiv bridges, cosy parks — choose your favourite spot and feel the real magic of the capital's dawn!
1. Alley of Artists
May sunrises here are a real miracle. Due to the movement of the Earth, the sun rises at different points of the horizon throughout the year, so it aligns perfectly with the viewing platform near St Andrew's Church.
2. Volodymyrska Hirka Park
The most popular location for sunrises because of its versatility: no matter when you come, it's always beautiful. You can drink tea by the railing, and then head down to the monument to Volodymyr the Great and turn to the Pedestrian-Bicycle Bridge. If you're taking a taxi, it's best to stop at 7 Tryokhsvyatytelska St. and walk five minutes to the destination.
3. Eternal Glory Park
There is an observation deck and plenty of benches. In April and May, the sun rises directly over the Metro Bridge, offering a spectacular view. It's best to take a taxi to the Salute Hotel, which is only a two-minute walk away.
4. Pedestrian-Bicycle Bridge
Everyone's favourite place for Kyiv sunrises! The open view of the sky and horizon lets you take in the full beauty of the morning light. This spot is best from April to September.
5. Parkovyi Bridge
An ideal place for winter sunrises — the sun rises right in front of you, illuminating the bridge. However, the place is very atmospheric at other times of the year. You can get here from Poshtova Square or go down the stairs through Volodymyrskyi Descent.
6. Hryshko National Botanical Garden
You can greet the sunrise here year-round, not just in April or May. The entrance has a contactless payment gate, so early hours aren’t an issue. The most popular time to visit is during the lilac bloom — a truly enchanting scene.
7. Dnipro Embankment
A great waterfront option, especially in January and February. If the sunrise is vibrant, the colours reflect beautifully on the river. It’s easily accessible via the stairs near the Magdeburg Right monument or from Poshtova Square. Other than fishermen, it’s rarely crowded.
