From March 4th to 6th, the world's largest international tourism trade show, “ITB Berlin”, took place in the capital of Germany. The Kyiv Tourism and Promotion Department, together with partners from the Department of Socio-Economic Development and Strategic Planning, the Zakarpattia Tourism and Resorts Department, and the Association of Incoming Tour Operators of Ukraine, showcased the tourism potential of Ukrainian destinations. This was reported by the Kyiv Tourism and Promotion Department.
«ITB Berlin 2025» gathered a record 5,800 exhibitors from over 170 countries, reaffirming its status as a key global platform for shaping modern tourism trends. The event attracted over 100,000 visitors.
As a sign of support, the event organizers provided Kyiv with exhibition space free of charge, offering a unique opportunity to present Ukrainian tourist destinations to the international community, demonstrating readiness to welcome travelers from around the world.
On the first day, the Ukrainian stand was officially visited by the Governing Mayor of Berlin Kai Wegner, the Federal Government Coordinator for the Maritime Industry and for Tourism Dieter Janecek, the CEO of Messe Berlin Mario Tobias, the Secretary-General of the UNWTO Zurab Pololikashvili, President and CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council Julia Simpson, President of the Deutscher Reiseverband Norbert Fiebig, and First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in Germany Oleksandr Honcharuk.
Partners from “visitBerlin” also provided a corner for Kyiv within the Berlin stand, where the Department was able to present the Ukrainian capital alongside European colleagues, highlighting the close cooperation between the twin cities. Negotiations were also held with the leadership of “visitBerlin” regarding future plans and cooperation strategies, including new opportunities for joint development of tourism projects, promoting Kyiv on international platforms, and deepening the partnership between the capitals.
On the second day of the exhibition, visitors of the Ukrainian stand embarked on a true gastronomic journey through Ukraine, “Ukrainian Local Food”. Guests were treated to signature candies from the "Milk Bar" restaurant chain, specially crafted for “ITB Berlin” to symbolize the partnership and friendship between Kyiv and Berlin, traditional salo from the Berlin-based Ukrainian cuisine restaurant “vdoma.berlin”, exquisite eclairs from the Ukrainian coffee shop “Paska.L Choux”, and authentic artisanal delicacies from Chernivtsi and Zakarpattia. This initiative was another step in promoting Ukraine's gastronomic tourism to an international audience.
The third day was dedicated to solidifying established contacts with international partners and further integrating Kyiv into the global tourism community. Last year marked a starting point for the revival of the tourism industry, so the Kyiv is actively working to make 2025 even more productive and effective. Membership in international organizations opens up new opportunities for promoting the tourism potential of Kyiv and Ukraine, provides access to global development programs, attracts investors, and strengthens Ukrainian positions in the global tourism market, accelerating the industry's recovery.
The popularity of the “UKRAINE” stand at ITB Berlin 2025 confirmed the high interest of the international community in Kyiv and Ukrainian tourist destinations. The capital of Ukraine continues to actively expand its presence on global tourism platforms, strengthening international ties and preparing to welcome visitors.
